The school newspaper is one of the most exciting things one can be involved in before they leave school. Starting out at the Primary school level makes the experience even more enjoyable because this is when most ideas are formed in the individual's head.
We are delighted to bring the story of one school newspaper, which is providing news and information to the pupils of one school and setting the stage for exciting careers in the media.
Children are encouraged to start something. When they express themselves in school newspapers or in reading and writing clubs, they polish up their knowledge of current affairs but they also become better at in English language, a vital subject in school.
NiE continues to encourage this noble venture. Some weeks ago, we read how one amazing reading and writing club produced one of the most senior news paper managers in Uganda. Children should be made to understand that it is more satisfying to earn a living doing something they enjoy. Newspapers are one of the most exciting fields there ever was. Daily Monitor is testimony to this.
We also bring you the efforts of different children at writing and communicating. We continue to encourage teachers and children to send in their experiences at school; these are the things that make good newspaper stories.
We need to find out the different ways teachers and pupils have used the Daily Monitor. We would like to know what you have learnt in the newspapers and how they have changed your life.
