Uganda: HP in Effort Against Counterfeits

Kampala — Hewlett-Packard a United States based technology firm is intensifying the war against counterfeit products in Uganda, with an aim to protect its customers from buying damaging products and business losses.

Ms Janet Kamau, the marketing manager of Image Printing Group at Hewlett-Packard (HP) in East Africa told the Daily Monitor last Friday, that the company will launch a full scale war on counterfeit HP products sold in Kampala, beginning this November. Through its selected partners, HP sells ink, toners, paper, printers, desktop computer and laptops in Uganda.

The campaign against fake HP brands in Kampala is expected to involve the Uganda Police force and Uganda National Bureau of Standards who will work together to apprehend a racket of fake HP products distributors in Uganda.
