Nigeria: Flying Eagles Qualify for AYC

Nigeria's Flying Eagles played out a 2-2 draw with Sudan yesterday in the second leg of their second round qualifier for next year's African Youth Championship scheduled for Rwanda.

The draw in Port Sudan means the Nigerian cadets go through 7-2 on aggregate after a 5-0 first leg win in Abuja.

With the two players, Obiora Nwankwo and Emuobo Ambrose, left behind due to flight scheduling problems, the Nigerians went behind twice, but came back each time to hold on for the draw.

Striker Chrisantus Macauley was sent off late for dissent after coming on as a substitute.

In other results played yesterday in the AYC qualifying series Zambia lost to World Youth Championship host, Egypt 1-0 in Lusaka, which saw the Junior Pharoahs through to the cadet tournament winning 4-3 on aggregate.

South Africa brush aside Botswana 3-0 in Johannesbourg to qualify 4-3 on aggregate after drawing the first leg one goal apiece.
