Abuja — As the Supreme Court prepares to hear the petition of both the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Action Congress (AC) presidential candidates, the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Organisa-tion of the ANPP, Alhaji Sule Hamma, has raised an alarm over alleged moves to influence the outcome of the case at the apex court.
Hamma however said Buhari's faith in the ability of the Supreme Court justices to deliver credible judgment in the matter remains unshaken.
Hamma, who spoke to newsmen in Abuja over the weekend, alleged that a certain legal practitioner was spearheading the project.
He fingered the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Presidency.
Another attempt, he said, was the one being made by a few highly placed individuals in the corridors of power, to remind the court that Buhari's case is weak.
"The question you asked about certain political figures making statements that we have a weak case, is one of such attempts obviously, to try to poison the minds of the justices into believing that we have a weak case", he said.
In spite of all these, "We have confidence that they will rise up to the challenges towards that occasion. We are not unaware of obvious attempts that are being made by the PDP and quite possibly, the government itself, to influence them", he said.He described Gen. Buhari as the most popular politician in contemporary Nigeria , adding that in recent times, organisers of social events in the country have always sought the presence of t Buhari so as to use him to garner large crowds.Buhari on the other hand, has equally used such occasions to send out political messages to his followers, as well as advertise the programmes he would pursue if given the opportunity to rule Nigeria as an elected President."Gen. Buhari, we believe, is the most popular politician in Nigeria today. So he is invited to many social events by many people whose primary desire is to see that they want to associate with Gen. Buhari, two, that they use his presence to pull crowd to popularize their own occasion", he said.He added that, "for us, it serves our interest very well because it affords Gen. Buhari and us, the opportunity to market our product, which is Gen Buhari and our programmes, without any difficulty".
