Premier League prosecutor Zola Majavu has issued an impassioned plea that the dispute between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates over the services of former Maritzburg City striker Siphelele Mthembu be resolved as soon as possible.
Majavu was speaking to KickOff.com today after the website revealed that Chiefs intend to appeal against the Dispute Resolution Committee's decision to rule in favour of the Buccaneers.
This was disclosed by Amakhosi's boss Kaizer Motaung in his Viewpoint column on the club's website today.
"The verdict that favoured Orlando Pirates for the services of Mthembu has obviously jolted our resolve to pursue the matter further," says Motaung says.
"This can only be done after consultation with the players' parents and the legal team that is currently handling the matter. It is indeed unfortunate for the player, but we are conscious and respectful of the decision by the DRC.
"I am just concerned that some detractors are apportioning blame at us; something that I find premature at this stage considering our intention to pursue the matter.
Chiefs' seven-day deadline in which to lodge their appeal ends on Wednesday.
Majavu says that he has not been informed of Chiefs intent as yet, however, should they do so, he would urge both parties to forego the Appeal process and move directly to Arbitration in order to settle the matter quickly.
