As aviation authorities close the Kaduna Airport for rehabilitation, Chanchangi Airlines has announced that from Tuesday, it would be operating from the Nigeria Air Force Base, Kaduna.
"Kaduna-Lagos flights would depart from the Nigeria Air Force Base, Kaduna while the repair work continues.
The departure time for Lagos-Kaduna flight has been scheduled for 3pm with effect from Monday, October 13, while normal flight schedules will resume October 23, 2008 when the rehabilitation on the runway would have been completed," the airline said.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Nigerian Civil aviation Authority (NCAA), announced at the weekend that from today the Kaduna Airport would be closed for emergency repair of some parts of its runway.
The repair, according to the Managing Director of FAAN, Richard Aisuebeogun, would be completed on October 22, 2008, while the runway would be re-opened for flight operations the following day.
He further informed that the contractor handling the project, Messrs PW Nigeria Limited, had already mobilised resources to carry out the repair and assured of timely completion of the work.
Aisuebeogun said further that the repair would include milling the damaged and undulating parts of the runway as well as the laying of asphalt.
