Nigeria: AC Wins By-Election at Abaji Council

The candidate of the Action Congress (AC), over the weekend, won the councillorship position in the North-East ward by-election conducted in Abaji Area Council.

Announcing the result at Abaji Central Primary School, Mallam Mohammad Umar, returning officer of INEC in the area, disclosed that Shuaibu Mohammad Tani of the AC scored 744 votes as against the 472 votes scored by Barrister Isah Musa Hussain of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

During the exercise, the council's Chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Musa Mohammad, went to polling units in the ward to observe the situation there.

The chairman used the opportunity of his visit round the centres to advise people to go to the polling centres to vote for candidates of their choice.

Voters interviewed including some members of the ANPP praised the manner in which the election was conducted.

State Chairman of the AC, Barrister Musa Salihu, expressed satisfaction withthe peaceful manner the election was conducted.

The Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa ,had earlier informed his subjects to comply with INEC's rules and vote in peace for candidates of their choice.

After the results were announced, the councillor elect, Shuaibu Tani ,thanked the electorates for giving him the opportunity to serve them and promised to serve them diligently.
