Luanda — The Angolan National Assembly (Parliament) will hold a solemn session on Wednesday to open its legislative year that will go until 15 August 2009.
According to the spokesman for the National Assembly, Carlos Magalhães, the session will be marked by speeches by the House speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and the heads of political parties' parliamentary groups, namely MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA and ND.
During the session, certificates for former Members of Parliament will be handed to their respective parties.
The MPs will also meet to set up the standing commissions tasked with drafting the documents for submission to a plenary session on October 17.
