Angola: Ambassador to Senegal Presents Credentials

Dakar — Angolan ambassador, Brito Sozinho, was on Friday in Dakar, accredited by the president of Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade, during a ceremony held in the presidential palace.

On the occasion, president Abdoulaye Wade expressed the interest of Senegal to have the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries improved, as well as a better bilateral articulation in international affairs.

At the audience of about 25 minutes, the Senegalese president discussed with the Angolan diplomat the state of relations between the two countries, the long common history in Africa's liberation effort and the assistance extended by Senegal to Angola's independence venture.

In his turn, Brito Sozinho told the Senegalese head of State that the legislative election recently held in Angola went in a peaceful and transparent way and with a high voters turnout.

The Angolan non-resident ambassador to Senegal also spoke of the Government's main realisations in six years of peace, reached in April 2002, particularly concerning rehabilitation and construction of social, productive and economic infrastructures.

Brito Sozinho is based in Guinea Bissau and presented the copy of his credentials in Senegal in April this year. He is also the Angolan ambassador to Guinea Conakry, since 2007, and Gambia, since February 2008.
