In a bid to develop sports in the country, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) last week donated sporting equipment to the Services Secondary School in Freetown.

The sporting equipment include: six footballs; four volleyballs; one volleyball net; 24 table tennis balls; two basketballs; one handball net; one basketball rim, one tennis table and two whistles.

NOC chairman, Henry Moore said he was pleased to make such an offer adding that the school's efforts in sports in the past years influenced his organization to donate the items.

Moore appealed to schools to put more efforts in sports, adding that the development of sports starts from the schools.

"I want you to use the equipment for its intended purpose," he said.

Olu Jones, a senior teacher of the school who received the equipment stated that the equipment were very important to his institution.

Jones promised that the public would hear more about Service School in the upcoming inter-secondary school sports.

Similar donations have been made to schools in Makeni, Masiaka and Freetown.
