Milovan Rajevac will use Ghana's international friendly against South Africa to look more closely at some of the players on the fringes of his first team as he looks to build a side capable of reaching the first World Cup to be held in Africa.
The Serbian has excused some of his first team regulars but has called up a squad that he says is still strong enough to give Bafana Bafana a good run for their money in Wednesday's friendly in Bloemfontein.
Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari is one of many key players who will not travel with the squad. Dutch League top scorer Matthew Amoah will also be missing while Zamalek forward Junior Agogo, who is also Ghana's top scorer in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers with four goals, won't travel to Bloemfontein.
But Ghana will have captain Stephen Appiah in their fold as well as Haminu Dramani and goalkeeper Richard Kingson.
There is a recall too for Andrea Dede Ayew who captained the national U-20 side to the African Youth Championships on Sunday. The son of the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele has not played for the Black Stars since the Nations Cup semifinal defeat against Cameroon.
The Asante Kotoko striker Kwadwo Poku who was dropped from the last squad after his disciplinary issue with the Porcupine Warriors is also in alongside Eric Bekoe, the local league's top scorer.
The identity of the full squad was unknown midway through on Monday with officials of the football association still working the phone lines in a bid to finalise who is in and who is out.
