Luanda — Angolan experts on legislation, laboratory and food security are participating since Monday in Gaborone, Botswana, in the seminar for "Evaluation of Necessities".
In an interview to ANGOP in Luanda, Angola Codex Alimentarius executive secretary, Domingos Miguel, stated that the event that will last four days aims at providing experts of Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) with techniques and knowledge on assessment of necessities for their countries.
According to Codex official (sector responsible for promoting, elaborating regulations about food handling, sanitation and quality), the meeting will also serve to "prepare the position of each SADC member country" on topics related to Food Sanitary Security, to be presented at the organisation's Regional Assembly, scheduled for July 2009.
He added that Angola intends to learn theoretical and technical knowledge and necessary experience for the creation of Angolan Food Security Committee, to work in partnership with Codex Alimentarius in elaborating laws and rules on food protection, security and sanitary hygiene.
