Windhoek — Angolan rider Ze Comando, also known as Jose Carlos Westwood Teixeira has been a regular face in local Moto Cross Races and the Angolan will be amongst the favourites when the annual Namibian Inter Series gets underway in earnest, on the 15th of next month.
Born in Benguela on the on 19th August in 1966 - young Ze Comando moved to Portugal with his parents and it was in Portugal where he was introduced to Moto-Cross racing aboard a Casal-Boss 50cc.
When he returned to Angola, Jose tried his luck in a few RAIDS (Offroad-Racing) that saw him earn some fine results. Afterwards, he decided to switch to Moto-Cross racing where he immediately announced his arrival by clinching the Benguela MX-Championship four times in a row.
Even in far away Angola, people were upbeat about the Namibian Inter-Series and by the year 2000 - Jose could no longer resist the temptation of being part of this prestigious event and submitted his entry for the first time and has never looked back ever since.
Year after year he travelled to Namibia and his best achievement came in 2003 when he finished runner-up in the Clubmen's Class. After his excellent feat, ZE was invited to race the 2004 National Championship in Namibia and he accepted the invitation with open arms.
With the assistance of Messrs Porto do Lobito - he flew to each and every race in Namibia and won the Masters Class on maximum points.
The year after he repeated this feat, the regulations forced him to move up in 2006 to the protagonists of the sport, the Open Class category. Despite mixed results during the infant stages, he still managed to jump the rostrum in 3rd overall. That was absolutely a major achievement at his ripe age of 40.
In 2008, Jose chose to race the Clubmen's Class, which he is currently leading by 12 points with two rounds to go. This year, he is geared to race some good results again aboard his Honda CRF 450R. Jose is also the captain of ALVA Fishing Angola Team..
He will be accompanied by Angolan Moto-Cross legend Narciso Jose, who has been winning most events in his native country. Narciso is riding for the Yamaha-Team in Angola and has already raced in 2006 at the Inter-Series where he finished in 14th overall position.
For the second time in the 12-year history of the Namibian Inter-Series - there would a participant in the Quad A Class from Angola, going by the name of Fabio Ferreira. Fabio was born on 3rd October 1988 in Luanda. After some fine results achieved during the year 2006 he became the Number One rider in the Team Maianga, sponsored by Fazenda Perola Do Kikuxi (Helder Santos).
Fabio won the 2007 Quad Championship in Angola and is also leading the charts in the 2008 Championship. At the 2007 Namibian Inter-Series Fabio could unfortunately not show his full potential due to technical problems.
This year, he is racing a Honda TRX 450R and will do his utmost best to demonstrate his skills. The Angolans receive major sponsorships from Messrs Porto do Lobito, E.L. Sea Products, ALVA Fishing Company as well as Muxima Bed & Breakfast.
