Twelve persons including a family of five, died yesterday along Hadejia-Ringim road in Jigawa State in a ghastly motor accident.
Vanguard gathered that the family of five who died in the accident include two wives of a man (name unknown), his two daughters and his aged mother.
The Jigawa State police spokesperson, ASP Jinjiri who confirmed the accident, however, could not give details of how the accident occurred and the names of the victims at the time of filing this report.
The accident occurred along Kwanar Dabi near Ringim town Sunday night. The victims' vehicle, a Peugeot 505 station wagon was said to have ran into a trailer carrying cattle.
An eyewitness said the car which was carrying a total of 12 passengers, was going from Hadejia town to Kano but lost control and ran under the trailer which was coming from Kano.
The eyewitness said 10 people died on the spot, while the remaining two passengers were said to have died at Ringim General Hospital. All the deceased have been buried at Ringim according to Islamic rites.
It will be recalled that the state govenrment recently setup a taskforce to control over loading along all Jigawa roads to reduce cases of accidents on their roads.
