Intending pilgrims for this year's hajj have been assured that all necessary arrangements aimed at ensuring their comfort both here and in Saudi Arabia have been concluded.

Managing Director of Medview Airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, one of the air carriers appointed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), for the airlift of pilgrims has said, adding that the airline is working round the clock with all the agencies concerned to ensure that the exercise is hitch-free.

Bankole who was addressing newsmen at the venue of the just concluded one-day workshop on operational logistics organised by NAHCON, disclosed that the airline has procured large capacity aircrafts and has secured sufficient slots for landing and take-off, as required by both the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and their Saudi counterparts.

He expressed satisfaction with the support which the airline is enjoying from NAHCON, saying, the leadership of the commission has so far demonstrated its determination to change the conduct of Hajj in Nigeria for the better.

He said series of meetings have been scheduled between the airline and the State Pilgrim Welfare Agencies concerned with the responsibility of perfecting all strategies put in place with regards to the smooth movement of pilgrims to the airports for their airlift as planned.

Bankole said the 2008 hajj, would be remarkably different from the previous exercises as all the accredited airlines have decided to pull their resources together and work as a team, pointing out that all logistic arrangements have been centralised for the convenience of the air carriers.
