Kampala — ENTEBBE Municipality is to close down dirty premises in an attempt to improve sanitation. Addressing residents during the 46th independence celebrations at the works grounds, mayor Stephen Kabuye said Entebbe was the main gateway to the country and should be kept clean.
"We should be role models as the visitors pass here to enter the country. Their first impression matters."
He said municipal workers recently found homes without toilets. "Who can allow such activities in a place like Entebbe? The by-laws are passed. Whoever lives in a dirty environment, the premises will be closed."
He urged the residents to continue planting trees. "Why do you think a lot of people run away from from Kampala at the weekends to Entebbe? It is because you have fresh air. Please, don't spoil it so that you continue to benefit."
MP Mohammed Kawuma urged the Government to reduce poverty across the nation.
