Lagos — A Nigerian staff Babatunde Ojo, of Qatar Airways from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, stole the show at the airline's recently concluded global Customer Services Conference in Doha as he received the Annual Service Excellence Award for the best Customer Service person in the airline.
The award is for delivering excellent customer service, dedication in the call of duty, putting the customer first and emphasizing what is required to deliver five star services on the ground.
An example of his excellent performance occurred when there was an equipment breakdown and shortage of staff which would have seriously delayed the aircraft's departure. Almost single handedly and without complaint, Babatunde was said to have loaded all the baggage into the baggage containers to ensure that the aircraft and passengers could depart with minimum inconvenience.
Commenting on the award, Andy Stern, Regional Manager Sub-Saharan Africa said, "it's a great example of the dedication of the Qatar Airways team in Nigeria which has led to the increasing popularity of the airline. We are very proud of Babatunde and its great to see a Nigerian winning such a prestigious global award within Qatar Airways".
Ojo in his response said, "I am delighted to win this award but I was only doing my job"
He joined the airline in November 2006.
