Ministry of trade and industry in concert with oil companies have responded to the demands of the people of Sierra Leone by drastically reducing the cost of fuel that has been eating deep into the economy.
As matter of fact, the oil industry has always promised to adjust pump prices as and when the combined effect of both the local exchange rate and the international market price for oil indicates an upward or downward trend.
With the current changes that have taken place in the international market since the last price increase in May 2008, the oil marketing companies in consultation with the petroleum unit have decided with immediate effect a reduction in the price of petroleum products as follows: Petrol from Le16, 500 to Le15, 000per/gall, diesel from Le16, 500 to Le15, 00per/gall, kerosene from Le16, 500 to Le15, 000/gall, fuel oil from Le9, 605.57 to Le8, 418.13per/gall.
As usual, the government and the oil companies wish to assure the public that situations will be under constant review to adjust the prices upwards or downwards as the trend dictate. The government in collaboration with oil industries assures the public that it remains committed to providing reliable services at all times to the people of Sierra Leone.
