Angola: Senior Army Officer Highlights Good Relations

Lobito — The commander of the southern naval region, vice admiral Daniel António, this Tuesday here considered beneficial the relations existing between USA and Angolan military entities.

The top army officer was speaking to the press in the light of the visit of the US navy vessel which has moored since Monday at the Lobito harbour, central Benguela province.

According to him, world navies are prominent for the consolidation of diplomacies and reinforcement of friendship amongst countries.

On her turn, the commander of the American navy vessel dubbed "USS ELROD", Cynthia Thebaud, said that the good relations existing between Angola and the USA have been easing the cooperation and sharing of experiences in the military fields, with highlight to the navy sector.

The military officer explained that visits that navy entities of her country have been paying to Angola aims at consolidating friendship ties between both States.

To him, the friendship ties, mainly in the navy field might contribute to the combat to terrorism, to counterfeit trade and narcotrafficking.

The US navy crew will this Tuesday donate various goods to the orphanage of the Catholic Church.

USS ELROD will remain at the Lobito harbour until next Thursday and will then head to the Republic of Togo.
