Angola: Senior Official Calls for Housing Loans Protection

Luanda — The chairperson of the board of directors of "Lar do Patriota" Cooperative, António da Ressurreição da Silva, Monday here called for creation of mechanism capable to protect credits and low-interest loan institutions.

Addressing Angop, on the deadlines of building of social services, the official urged the State to create juridical-legal tools intended to protect the credit of the citizen and, at the same time, obliging its candidates to fulfil their responsibilities.

For this purpose he called for protection of credits or even the implementation of a low-interest system with a view to stem the problems facing the real estate's sector.

"The practice of 12 percent interest for housing makes difficult the access of candidates to housing due to the lack of financial capacity to support the housing costs", said the chairman, who called on the participation of State in the construction of condominium in order to facilitate the low-costs.
