To tie the resolution of the Niger Delta crisis to constitutional amendments would be counter-productive, President Umaru Yar'adua warned yesterday, saying his administration remains committed to solving the region's problems even within the "imperfect" 1999 constitution.
Yar'adua was responding to a request for certain constitutional amendments to tackle the Niger Delta crisis made by the Chairman of the South-South Legislative Retreat on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, retired Justice Adolphus Karibi-Whyte, who led a delegation to the State House to present the retreat's report.
