Owerri — THE Imo State government has approved a waiver for the Ministry of Health to engage and post more pharmacists to the needy areas.
Governor Ikedi Ohakim disclosed this in a message delivered on his behalf by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vin Udokwu, when he played host at the Govern-ment House, Owerri, to a delegation of Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), led by the Registrar, Mr. Ahmed T. Mora.
Ohakim stressed the need for continuous education in every profession as such would help every professional to be current with the global guidelines of his profession.
"The interactive sessions organized by PCN in every part of the country would help pharmacists keep abreast with the current best practice in the pharmaceutical world", Ohakim reasoned.
While thanking his guests for the advocacy visit, the Governor also disclosed that he has received their report on all the hospitals in the state and was currently studying the report with a view to taking the necessary actions in both government and private hospitals.
Earlier in his speech, the PCN Registrar explained that they were in the state to interact with pharmacists employed in public and private health institutions.
"The idea of floating the interactive sessions is to offer them new global direction, harmonizing new concepts of the practice and receiving a feedback on how best the Council could collaborate with professionals to effectively control and regulate the practice of the profession", Mora said.
