Luanda — Angola's Supreme Court chief justice, Cristiano André, Tuesday in Luanda, spoke out of the need for the society to pay a major attention to the citizen in order to guarantee social equilibrium and stability.
The magistrate was speaking during the presentation of the book "Social Justice", as part of the 3rd National Social Week, jointly sponsored by Mosaiko Cultural Centre and the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe.
The official on the occasion underlined that the complexity of the problems facing the society does not permit the church alone or any other institution to come up with lasting and indisputable solutions.
According to Cristiano André, this complexity of the problems constitute the basis for the choice of the topic "Social Justice in Angola" as the country is under a process of reconstruction and transformation.
The book has 271 pages and focuses on such topics as social justice, gender and paternal responsibility, social exclusion/inclusion, natural resources, access to justice and church in the promotion of social justice.
The book includes a compilation of communications by clergymen and law makers, with stress to cardinal Alexandre do Nascimento, bishops Damião Franklim and Zacarias Kamuenho, jurists Inglês Pinto, Luzia Sebastião, Lazarino Poulson and others.
The 3rd National Social Week went from February 6-10, 2007, with about 300 participants from various dioceses and other social sectors from various parts of the country.
Mosaika Cultural Centre is an organisation whose task is to promote human rights in Angola.
