In view of the expectations of the Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro (OFR) that all policemen in the country be computer literate before December, 2008, the Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar, Cross River State has set in motion a mechanism to ensure that the deadline is met in the zone.
A statement issued by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar and signed by the Zonal Police PRO, SP Ngozi Otamiri noted that computer literacy has become necessary for all officers "based on the fact that the world is now information and communication knowledge- driven."
According to the statement, "In line with the Inspector-General of Police directives based on the fact that the world is now information and communication knowledge-driven, the Nigeria Police cannot afford to operate outside its confines."
It further noted "the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar, AIG Azubuke Udah has directed all police officers and Rank/File serving in Zone 6 Headquarters and its environs to avail themselves the opportunity to enroll now with 'NetLinks Computer Solutions Ltd'.
"The Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro (OFR) expects policemen in the country to be computer literate before December, 2008," said AIG Azubuke dah.
The AIG Zone 6, Calabar yesterday therefore inaugurated and commissioned a Computer Literacy Programme organized by the management and staff of 'Netlink Computer Solutions Limited' at Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar, Cross River State.
