The Benue State House of Assembly complex was yesterday besieged by angry protesters who were demanding to be reinstated into public service following the massive sack that was embarked upon by Simon Abua the area chairman of Gboko local government on his assumption of office about eight months ago.

The 1,014 workers of Gboko local government area of the state who were dismissed were seen being led into the assembly complex by the Majority and Minority leaders of the house, Hyacinth Nyakuma and Dr Tsetim Ayargwer, respectively, a development which heightened insinuations that the speaker, Terseer Tsumba with the governor's consent had arranged for the allegedly sponsored protest.

Mr Abua is a former personal assistant to the immediate past governor of the state, Senator George Akume, who is being touted as being behind the series of documents issued by the opposition alleging financial misappropriation against Governor Gabriel Suswam and some of his cabinet members.

The Majority Leader assured the protesters that the House would look into the matter and find a solution to it.

Placards with inscriptions such as "pay us our money Mr chairman" "you cant just sack us without settling us" were displayed to register their grievances .

Mr Abua, in a quick reaction said "They have the right to table their grievances within the confines of the law.

When I am called upon, I will present my explanation."
