South Africa: Accused Drug Dealer Applies for Bail

Cape Town — Alleged gang kingpin and drug dealer Farouk Kamaldien appeared in the Wynberg magistrate's court on Tuesday to apply for bail on charges relating to drug dealing, housebreaking and theft.

The 43-year-old Wynberg resident's bail application came days after he was acquitted on 17 other charges relating to rape, attempted murder, dealing in drugs, violating the provisions of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act, three counts of contravening the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, contravening the Child Care Act, and six of contravening the Sexual Offences Act.
