Rwanda: Country's First Casino to Be Launched This Month

Kigali — Lotto Rwanda is preparing to open the first casino in Rwanda early next week, The New Times has learnt.

Casino Kigali, which will be located on the first floor of Top Tower Hotel in Kacyiru, will be launched on October 21.

The Director General of Lotto Rwanda, Philip Brizoua, said that the opening of the new casino is among the many innovations that they are bringing in the gaming arena.

"Our vision is creating and maintaining world class and responsible gaming experience which will be a tool in promoting entertainment on the Rwandan market," he explained.

He also said that this means a lot to Rwandans because anyone can instantly become a millionaire and that life can instantly change.

"These new gaming experiences make Lotto Rwanda part of those re-distributing national wealth, which is a tool in stabilising the economy," he added.

The casino is certified by a reputable international accounting and consultation firm.

Lotto Rwanda will give an opportunity to whoever buys a ticket to win a jackpot of Frw30 million on a weekly basis.

"The ticket that will cost Frw300 will be affordable for every one and shall be easily purchased using a telecommunication apparatus network where one can buy using a mobile phone," Brizoua said.

Video gaming machines will soon be installed in bars, restaurants and night clubs where the owners will be working on commission under a franchise agreement with Lotto Rwanda.

Whereas nations in the west are trying to combat the gambling culture destroying the very fiber of society and families, Rwanda tries to embark on a different way. Don't we have enough problems already? And now we want to add gambling to it. have you seen someone addicted to gambling? I wonder if anyone has considered how dangerous this Casino would be in the future? This is purely keeping up with the Jones and lawmakers should put a top to it, because aside from being a cash-cow it offer nothing else but trouble.
