Asmara — In line with efforts to upgrade the skills of its staff members, the Ministry of Education is offering distance learning course in diploma to about 1,500 junior school teachers, according to Mr. Tedros Sium, director of human resource development in the Ministry.

The two-year long course in all the country's administrative regions focuses on school administration, curriculum drafting and other fields. He also pointed out that the course is aimed at further deepening the knowledge and skill of the teachers.

The Ministry is also offering diploma course to 580 teachers who are promoted from elementary to junior schools so as to upgrade their potentials.
