Angola: Main Opposition Party Defends Protection of Underprivileged

Luanda — The chief of Parliament bench of the main opposition UNITA party, Alda Juliana Paulo Sachiambo, Wednesday in Luanda called for a stronger State capable to introduce comprehensive public policies and susceptible to protect the most disadvantaged people.

Speaking during the solemn session of the opening of the II legislative period, the MP said that while representative of the people, the Parliament should fight to finding solutions that offer better opportunities for proper life of the neediest citizens.

To Alda Sachiambo, the reintegration and the social insertion of ex-combatants of MPLA, UNITA and FNLA, who fought against Portuguese colonialist troops and those of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), should be among the priorities of the social policies of the State, aimed at national reconciliation.

In this case, she said, to reach the goals desired by UNITA, the Angolan State should strengthen the institutions and have the rules accomplished in order to face, intelligently, the so called mistakes of the markets.

She also called for the promotion, among other initiatives, of the human development through free offers of basic and professional education, granting of credits, attracting foreign capital, identifying vocations and potentialities of the country's regions and safeguard and dignifying the Angolan culture.
