Angola: Minister Proposes Rural Area Tools Supplying Strategies

Luanda — Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, said Thursday in Luanda her department will continue working in the creation of programmes and strategies to secure more working instruments for the rural areas.

This, she added, is intended to improve rural women living and contribute to an increment of food production.

The minister was addressing the closing of the technical and scientific events of the World Food Day, October 16.

She defended the use of modern farming equipment as, she added, this will considerably contribute to reduce the peasants' physical effort in their daily activity.

Genoveva Lino informed that her ministry is implementing a programme of support to development of women and families in the fields of health, education, housing, improvment of social conditions and supply of goods and services.

According to her, the family is represented in all areas, having expressed the need for combination of efforts with other sectors for the implementation of programmes and strategies designed to the benefit of the living of the families.

She stressed that the Ministry of Family and Women Promotion (Minfamu) holds a Women Forum every years to learn of their main concerns and opinions as they are part of the process of development of Angola.

Minfamu, she assured, will approach other ministries for combined development actions towards securing women and families fundamental guarantees and rights.

Attending the event were the ministers of Environment, Fátima Jardim, Social Welfare, João Baptista Kussumua and Agriculture, Afonso Pedro Canga, who chaired the ceremony.
