Luanda — Ozone layer protection, environmental technology, water quality and pollution and use of land are some of the topics being tackled at a course on management of hydric resources Angolan is attending since September 29 in Stockholm (Sweden).
This was said Thursday, from Sweden, by the head of the Department of Planning and Environment of the Office for Development of the Mean Kwanza (Gamek), Rafael Miguel Neto, who is attending the event.
According to the source, in addition to the above mentioned topics, the course is tackling the participation of the community in the process of integrated management of hydric resources, waste recycling techniques, protection and preservation of aquatic environment and sustainable development: common objective - border conflict resolution.
The event is being lectured by specialists from Stockholm International Institute of Hydric Resources that is sponsoring the course.
The programme of the course includes study visits to the Centre of Strategic Information on environment and natural resources, to plants of recycling of industrial and domestic wastes and to the water treatment station and the superficial and underground waters project.
The event, according to the source, aims at upgrading and consolidating the process of development of institutional management of hydric resources in the countries of the Zambezi Basin.
The promotion of a regional integration in the area of management of hydric resources and environmental planning, equipping participants with theoretical and practical skills for an integrated management of shared hydric resources within development principles, are another purposes of the meeting.
In addition to Angola, the event is being attended by another 29 members of the Zambezi Basin, including Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
At the end of the programme, the participants are expected to draft a project for implementation in their respective countries.
