Somalia: Clan Fighting Near Kenyan Border Kills Five

Mogadishu — At least 5 Somalis have been killed and more were wounded after fighting broke out between clans near the border town of Mandera in North Eastern Province, residents said on Thursday.

Thursday's clashes erupted after days of pasture and water hole's disputes between the two clans that caused the fighting.

Residents said the clashes centered around the desert areas of the town, with both sides exchanging heavy machinegun fire.

An elder in the twon Ali Yasin, , said: "the two clans missed to come to middle middle ground regards to solve the contentious issues after days of talks.

The situation of the town is now calm as the fighting stopped after hours nevertheless it's unknown if the two sides would resume the fighting.
