Plans are afoot by the Federal Government, Sokoto State and Nigerian Association of Small Scale (NASSI) to empower the small-scale sector of the economy to create 10 million jobs annually.
The target to lay the foundation for the take-off of the nation's industrial growth, stakeholders have said.
The two tiers of govevernment, already are partnering NASSI to organise a summit to re-invigorate the nation's small-scale industries. The initiative, termed: "Project NASSI," organisers said is also aimed at actualisation of of Vision 2020 dream of the administration.
The national summit which holds from October 20 to 24 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, is expected to to have over 4,000 small-scale industrialists in the country in attendance.
The Sokoto State Government is throwing its weught behind the proposed summit through publicity. The project is to be executed under six components beginning with the national summit/exhibition which aims at enhancing the capacity of small-scale industrialists with basic entrepreneural, management, accounting, and marketing skills as well as arming them with enabling information on policies, programmes, strategies, while showcasing products of Nigeria's small-scale industrial sector.
