Ecunha — At least 3 tonnes of honey per month will be produced as from March 2009 on the cooperative farm of Ecunha district, some 42 kilometres of Huambo city, central Angola.
The information was supplied to Angop Friday in Huambo by the NGO "Marquês Vale Flor", Nuno Santos, in charge of the cooperative boosting project.
According to Nuno Santos, equipment for the production, extraction and trade of honey are already in the district.
He said as well an apiculture training programme with the communities of the district is already underway. The programme has trained 37 new producers so far and is expected to reach 143 until the end of this year.
Honey large scale production in Ecunha will in its first stage take place at the localities of Cambia, Tchiculo, Longonga, Caluanga, Tchicheia and the district's headquarters.
