Luanda — At least 39 new MPs were sworn in Friday in Luanda, during the first plenary session of the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament).
Of the 39, some had not been invested during the official ceremony of September 30, for justified reasons, whereas others will fill up gaps left by officials summoned to join the Government or applied for their mandate suspension.
The first plenary session of the National Assembly still going on also elected the Parliament's Administration Board that will as from now be chaired by MP Ezalgina Gamboa, of the ruling MPLA party.
The Board includes MPs Manuel Savihemba (oppostion Unita), João Baptista Gandajinda (PRS), Ngola Kabangu (FNLA), plus four substitutes.
Today's session is also expected to approve documents produced during the MPs swearing-in ceremony of September 30.
The Parliament opened Wednesday the first legislative year of the period that goes until 2012.
