Angola: Parliament Speaker Calls for Dialogue

Luanda — The speaker of the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament), Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, Friday here appealed to the political parties to assume a willing of dialogue, in the framework of the peace process and national reconciliation.

The Parliament leader was speaking at the end of the approval of the Bill that extinguishes the Government of Unity and National Reconciliation (GURN), created 12 years ago, part of Lusaka Protocol.

Fernando da Piedade said that the political parties should keep a willing for dialogue, taking into account that "the concern of peace-keeping and national reconciliation is a continuous process".

"MPLA accepted that the tasks to carry out (in the ambit of Lusaka Protocol) will be fulfilled, but we must not forget the global responsibility, which is of all of us", he stressed.

One of the tasks to carry out, in the framework of Lusaka Protocol, is the conclusion of the demobilisation process of former Unita soldiers, payment of their respective pensions of reform and integration of Unita personnel into the public companies.
