Huambo — The publishing and divulging of scientific, didactic and literary works in vernacular languages shall be of capital importance for its insertion into the education system and for its recognition, defended Friday here the historian Camilo Afonso.
Speaking to ANGOP in the light of the 3rd meeting on vernacular languages, Camilo Afonso stated that producing works in vernacular languages shall be extremely important, taking into account its role and the position it occupies in Angolan communities.
"Publishing works in vernacular languages will enable us to intercommunicate with peoples of neighbouring countries, considering that vernacular languages have similarities to those spoken in these regions. Im mainly talking about the neighbouring Congo Republics", he added.
On this aspect, the historian also defends the urgent approval of the status of vernacular languages, so as to make them official.
He stressed that the introduction of vernacular languages into the education system shall be an added value for every Angolan, since it will enable them to know a little bit of the socio-linguistic situation of Angola.
