Luanda — The Angolan Industry minister, Joaquim David, travelled Sunday to Uganda, where he will represent President José Eduardo dos Santos at the tripartite Summit of Heads of State.
The event, that will happen Wednesday in Kampala City, will gather officials from the Southern African development Community (SADC), Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The decision to hold this meeting was taken at the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit, held last August in South Africa, in which was adopted the region's free trade zone, that Angola has not joined yet.
Joaquim David said to ANGOP, at the airport, that the three zones are in the process of creating free trade zones, in order to establish a customs union, so at the Kampala Summit the three blocs will try to standardise the parameters of action, so that eventually there can be a free trade zone involving the three regions.
The event will be preceded by the ministerial meeting, slated for Monday, also in Kampala, in charge of adopting the documents to be submitted to the Heads of State and Governments.
The minister said that Angola considers the process as "a serious and very important issue", since the country is still expectant about joining the SADC free trade zone.
The Angolan multi-sector delegation comprises the Foreign Affairs vice-minister, George Chicoty, and SADC's National Secretary, Beatriz Morais.
Also the counsellor-minister of the Angolan Embassy in Botswana, Evaristo Dias da Silva, counsellor Alexandre Inácio, the first secretaries Pedro Kiala Bunga and Joel Cumbo, all belonging to the Angolan diplomatic mission to Tanzania, integrate the delegation.
