Nigeria: Modibbo Approves Customer Care Desk for Water Board

To improve service delivery to residents, FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar has approved the creation of customer care desk at all the area offices of the Water Board .

The minister, who made this disclosure at the weekend, remarked that the new customer care desk at each of the area offices would ensure prompt attention to customer's complaints.

Modibbo revealed that this action would no doubt, not only enhance the image of the FCT Water Board but the entire FCT Administration, because water is life.

According to him, "this action would enhance the image of the FCT Water Board by instituting a tradition of customer satisfaction which is in consonance with President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's 7-point agenda."

The minister also approved the modification of the area offices' structure to incorporate teams which have supervisors for the purpose of accountability and enhancement of service delivery.

He emphasided that this new concept would surely create robust area offices for the FCT Water Board that are self-sustaining as well as making the customer happy they really ought to be, which by extension would improve revenue generation for better service.

Modibbo further disclosed that a total of 6,501 automated water metres had so far been installed in some parts of the phase one of the Federal Capital City to ensure that customers really pay for the water consumed.

His words: "In order to achieve all these quick wins, a stakeholder meeting was recently organised with senior members of staff of the FCT Water Board to assess the working paper that has been developed for the Board's Business Plans."

He reiterated that all FCT Administration Agencies/Departments that provide essential services to the residents must sit up to have a positive change that would reflect absolutely on its results, noting that the era of customers not having value for their money was over in Abuja.
