Kampala — THE Police have arrested a secondary school head teacher and the director of studies over alleged malpractice in the ongoing O'Level examinations.
The Bushenyi district Police commander, Jimmy Oyuku, said Issa Rwezingye, of Ryeru School in Bunyaruguru county and Hagai Baluku, the director of studies, were arrested on Monday morning.
"Some of the girls at Ryeru collapsed when they realised that their teachers had been arrested."
Oyuku said Rwezingye claimed that other schools in Mbarara district were also cheating examinations. He urged teachers to desist from the vice.
Fred Tumuhairwe, the head of the Police officers attached to UNEB, the body that administers examinations, said 10 teachers in Kampala had been arrested over examination malpractice.
