Kampala — FAILURE to implement the accountants code of ethics has contributed a lot to the closure of many companies globally, the country manager of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants of Uganda (ACCA), Lucille Isingoma, has said.
"The level of scrutiny and regulations accountants face today is still high. This has been primarily driven by corporate scandals that took place a few years ago," Isingoma said at the graduation of 242 students who completed accountancy courses conducted by ACCA.
"Added to that is the increased public interest in capital markets where investment and public finance have made the accountant a key figure in many businesses and people's lives," she said.
"This means that you will be at the heart of business decisions wherever you work. This is not a light responsibility. Take every job seriously."
