Luanda — The transformation rate of deposits into credits in the Angolan commercial banks, in 2007, stood at 75 percent out of the 43 percent achieved in 2006, according to the study on the Angolan banking sector under the responsibility of KPMG Angola, expected to be released on October 29.
Speaking to ANGOP Monday, the administrator of consultancy and auditing firm, Luís Folhadela, said that the referred figure is still low comparing to those of the most developed markets. But for the country like Angola it is a very high increase recorded in one year-period, as the economy is creating credit opportunity.
Based on the study, Luís Folhadela said that the credit to the economy increased at 85 percent, whereas the deposits recorded a 43% increase, a remarkable engagement in the Angolan economy.
The interlocutor mentioned at least 1,750 new jobs, for graduate and high technicians, as having been created, thanks to the opening of the new agencies of commercial banks operating in the country.
In Angola since 1996, KPMG firm which is also part of the consortium with Angola Foment Bank (BFA), counts on over 200 professionals.
