Luanda — The Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Assunção dos Anjos, Monday left for Swaziland where he will represent the Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) organ on politics, defence and security meeting
Presided over by the Troika chairperson, King Mswati III of Swaziland, the meeting will discuss, among other matters, the situation in Zimbabwe, following a deadlock emerged from the negotiations leading to the formation of the new National Unity Government, under the mediation of the ex-South African President Thabo Mbeki.
The prevalent situation in Democratic Republic of Congo and other issues, worrying the African Statesmen, are also high on the working agenda of the regional meeting.
Angola and Mozambique hold the vice-presidency of the SADC's political organ of Defence and Security, which discuss issues related to the defence of the community member States sovereignty. It (the organ) is entrusted to ensure peace and political stability in the region.
SADC comprises Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Mauritius, Lesotho, Malawi, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, DRCongo, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
