Kampala — The Mbarara Coca-Cola plant has received the Coca-Cola Global Quality System Evolution 3 Award "The Coca-Cola Quality System (TCCQS) is a branded management system that is maintained in all its manufacturing operations across the world," Doug Dennis, the technical director for east and central Africa, said.

"It provides the framework around which the Coca-Cola system coordinates and guides its activities, drives continuous improvement and quality in its operations."

"By constantly refining our requirements, we ensure that TCCQS embodies the most up-to-date and stringent manufacturing practices," Dennis said.

The Mbarara plant, which has been in operation for 10 years, is one of the 23 plants to get the certification award in Africa.

Dennis said the certification supports the four principles of the company's corporate citizenship framework: providing quality, enriching the workplace, strengthening the community and preserving the environment.

The quality system reflects Coca-Cola's integrated approach to managing quality, the environment, plus health and safety of its employees.

It has been benchmarked against and is aligned to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 respectively.
