Mengo — Cranes coach Bobby Williamson has expressed willingness to furnish local coaches with modern training techniques. The Scot, yesterday, met a gathering of over 40 coaches at the Fufa headquarters in Mengo.
The meeting, which was attended by Super League, first and second division coaches, is intended to be the first of many with both Williamson and technical director Edgar Watson.
Bobby promised the coaches video training clips of foreign countries and clubs as a way of improving the coaching system here from the grass root level. He also pledged to give coaching material like booklets. "I will also welcome the idea of coaches inviting me to their clubs," he said.
Watson, however, cautioned that Bobby is in Uganda for national team duty and clubs should not take him as a signed coach.
"He (Bobby) will not stay at your clubs for long. His system will be to come for a few hours, give tips and then go away. We do not want to see clubs wrangling over him," Watson warned.
The coaches also welcomed the idea of every super league club owning a junior side, and cited an example of SC Villa. Veteran coach David Otti said the ideas were very good.
