Luanda — The eighth week of the Italian language and culture in the world, with the theme "Italian in the market" will start this Tuesday in Luanda with cinema sessions and music concerts.
According to the Italian ambassador, Torquato Cardilli, the event will take place until 26 October, and during the opening ceremony, some Italian citizens residing in Angola will be distinguished, followed by a music show to pay homage to the late tenor Luciano Pavarotti, dubbed "concerto grandíssimo".
In the music field, it is also scheduled for Friday the show of the duo made up by the Italian singers Costanza Francavilla and Marcos Messina, at the venue of Miami Beach, while on Sunday, it will be held in Tivoli cinema the concert of the Italian musician and actress Elena Bonelli dedicated to Italy's capital, the city of Rome.
Regarding movies, the organisation will play children films such as "La freccia azzurra" and "Momo alla conquista del Tempo", as well as films for adults like "Rome" and "La vita é Bella", directed by Roberto Benigni, winner of three awards in 1997.
These events will also be marked by the holding on 22 October of a conference on "The urban management problem in Luanda", to be lectured by the Italian teacher Claudio di Curzio, in the facilities of the Engineering Faculty of the public Agostinho Neto University.
A ceremony of handing over Italian language diplomas to Angolan students is also on the agenda of the activities for the eighth week of Italian language and culture in the world.
The event is being celebrated in 135 countries where Italian embassies are based, and it serves to pay homage to the Italian navigator and explorer from Génova City (Italian region), Cristóvão Colombo, who discovered the American continent on 12 October 1492, under the orders of the Spanish royalty.
