Angola: Over 1,000 Journalists to Cover Competition

Lubango — The stadiums that are being built in the country for the African Cup of Nations (CAN2010) in football, will have modern technological and computing equipment will enable over 1,000 journalists to cover to event.

The information was revealed to the press on Monday by the executive director of COCAN (Organising Committee), António Mangueira. To him, in covering Africa's most important football competition, Angola will receive professionals from the whole world, and for the purpose efforts are made to meet the expectations of the visitors.

He affirmed that for the success of the event, in the telecommunications field, COCAN has been contacting Angola-Telecom, that has already shown its readiness to channel an optical fibre cable to each stadium, since broad band telephone and internet services are essential tools for the journalistic class and security services.

"Angola needs to be capable of transmitting the CAN2010 abroad with quality, in order to overcome the expectations, in terms of television images, internet and other means of communication", he defended.

On Monday, António Mangueira visited southern Huíla province, being part of a delegation led by the deputy minister of Public Works, Joanes André, in order to learn about the progress of the construction works of the stadium to host the event and infrastructures of assistance.
