Angola: Country Beat Algeria in African Junior Males' Cup

Luanda — The national males under-18 basketball team on Tuesday beat its counterpart of Algeria by 70-53, at Moubarak pavilion, in a fourth round encounter of the African Championship of the category being held in Egypt.

By halftime, the players coached by Carlos Diniz were already head by 33-28. The match was dominated by the Angolans mainly in the second quarter in which the national team increased the gap in the scorecards.

Part of group B, on Monday Angola beat Kenya by 62-43, in the first round game that had been postponed, and later overcame, second round, the Democratic Republic of Congo by 67-42. The Angolans suffered their only defeat at the hands of Côte d'Ivoire (79-65).

On Thursday, the national team will face Nigeria, titleholders, in a fifth round game.
