Luanda — The Camões Institute was full once again last Tuesday night, during the exhibition of the movie "Comboio da Canhoca" (Train from Canhoca), that for one and half hour centred the attention of the Angolan 2nd Cycle of Cinema.
"Comboio da Canhoca", whose recording started in 1988, portrays the story of 59 Angolan men who had assimilated into the then colonial society and gained influence and prestige in it, however not enough to stop the Portuguese (colonial) political police (PIDE) from detaining them, after a fight between the native Faxina Njololo and a Portuguese corporal named Faria takes place.
The 59 victims were abandoned in a transport wagon that was to be sent to Luanda, inside which they stay for a few days, without hygienic conditions.
This is an adapted film made by Orlando Fortunato, with the production of Massangalalafilmes (Angola), Continental Filmes (Portugal) and Tranmediterrenée (France).
At the end of the session, a short period was preserved for debates, in which the public discussed with three of the actors of the movie, which took 20 years to be concluded, due to financial problems.
The three actors were Roberto Fortes, Louro Domingos and Dionísio Caminho.
