Dutse — THE administrator, Birnin Kudu local government area, Mallam Muhammed Auwal Babura has disclosed that his administration spent N16.7 million on road construction project.
According to him, the money was used in the construction of a 27km road linking about 20 communities in the local government area to the state.
Mallam Babura also stated that the decision to embark on the construction was informed by the harsh experience people of the area were subjected to especially in the effort to transport to major markets in the state.
The situation according to him affects greatly the socio-economic activities of the people from the area.
He also disclosed that the need for such development was in line with Gov Sule Lamido's led government of the state in serving the yearning and aspiration of its people. Indigenes of the communities especially peasant farmers who have benefited from the project have expressed their joy over the development stating that prior to the construction, they were experiencing hitches in transporting their farm produce to major market places in Kano and Bauchi state.
The indigenes who also disclosed that the development has aid better returns from their sales also prayed and thanked for Governor Sule Lamido for his wonderful initiatives to alleviate the poverty of the people.
